The D.A.R.E. Dads is a program for young fathers. Three fathers–Chip Galloway, Larry Wilgus, and Mark Simulus–act as leaders and role models in this program. These three leaders are transparent about their own experiences with their fathers, with overcoming addiction, and with raising their own families. The atmosphere of D.A.R.E. Dads is one of openness and trust. D.A.R.E. Dads meets bi-weekly, every second and fourth Thursday of the month, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at SGPC. When dads attend the meetings, show proof of seeking treatment for addictions, sign up for a GED program, or attend mental health appointments they are eligible to earn D.A.R.E. Dollars. D.A.R.E. Dollars can be spent at Gracie’s Baby Boutique on essential baby supplies. They can also be converted to a gift card for activities that encourage family bonding. This program provides a way for young dads to work actively at becoming the best fathers they can be for their families.
